Mike Genovese Wins PGA Tour Sponsored Stroke Play/Club Car Event #4

Mike Genovese fired a 2-under par round of 69 to win the Dixie PGA's PGA Tour sponsored Stroke Play Tournament, which is Event #4 of the Club Car Series presented by Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation. Genovese was one of only two players in the field that managed to fire a sub-par round at NorthRiver Yacht Club.

Todd Bailey Wins the National Car Rental Dixie Section Assistant PGA Professional Championship

Todd Bailey of Daphne, AL won the National Car Rental Dixie Section Assistant PGA Professional Championship Tuesday, August 16th at Robert Trent Jones @ Silver Lakes in Glencoe, AL.

By winning, Bailey qualified for the 40th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, Oct.  27 – 30, at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its twenty-first consecutive PGA Assistant Championship.

Jeff Copeland Wins Dixie Section Senior Championship

Jeff Copeland of Birmingham, AL winner of the Dixie Section Senior PGA Professional Championship, August 8 & 9, 2016 at Valley Hill Country Club will lead three Dixie Section PGA Professionals to compete Nov. 17-20, in the 28th Senior PGA Professional Championship.

The national Championship, presented by Mercedes-Benz USA, returns to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Copeland turned in a winning total of 5-under-par 139 to capture the Dixie Section Senior PGA Professional Championship supported by Mercedes-Benz USA. Todd McCorkle of Birmingham, AL finished tied for first at 139 but lost in a three hole playoff. They are joined by Rea Schuessler of Gulf Shores, AL.

Tom Lovelady Wins Alabama Open

Tom Lovelady continued his strong play with a final round of 68 to win the Alabama Open Presented by the Yamaha Golf-Car Company.  The AL Open hosted by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill and played on the Senator Course.

Lovelady, from Birmingham, recently turned professional after completing his playing career at the University of Alabama.  He lead the AL Open wire-to-wire following up on an opening round of seven-under par, 67, with rounds of 67 and 68, to finish with a sixteen-under par total of 200.

Wilson McDonald finished in second place for the second year in a row.  The former University of Alabama-Birmingham player had rounds of 68-67-71, for a ten-under par total.  Alex Mahlik from Madision, Alabama finished the tournament in third place overall and was the low amateur at seven-under par. 

Completing the top ten were Will Cannon at 210, Sylas Elliott and Tyler Hitchner at 214, Patrick Twesme and Todd Bailey at 215 and Todd McCorkle and Jared Burleson at even par 216. 

The Alabama Open was Presented by the Yamaha Golf-Car Company for seventh year.  Many thanks go out to Yamaha and their District Managers Jeff Jungers and Shannon Caverly for their support of the Dixie PGA and the Alabama Open.
